This was my first remodel – in fact, except for the occasional lightbulb, I hadn’t changed anything in 25 years of home ownership. I was still teetering between remodel or move when a family member referred Build it Pretty on the basis of their integrity, solid work and collaborative approach. From the very first meeting, I was impressed with Jay’s well balanced and sensible approach – he listened carefully, asked clarifying questions and responded with options. Once we had a plan, Jay and his crew got to work, keeping me informed and as involved as I wanted to be and it wasn’t long before any thoughts of moving were history. The crew was polite, pleasant and professional and patiently answered all my questions (and there were a lot because I was fascinated by the whole process). I was impressed with how tidy they were; there wasn’t a day ended without a thorough cleanup and even in the throes of a major overhaul, it never felt messy or chaotic. That really helped because not only were we able to live in the house the whole time, I was able to continue to work from home for the duration. As for the outcome – fantastic! I love it and so does everyone who has seen it! I’m already planning my next project with Build it Pretty…

Natural stone shower remodel with copper soaking tub
My wife and I recently purchased a house in Lakeville and knew once we moved in changes had to be made the Kitchen and Family Room. I had known the Prettyman family for many years from my previous employment with Home Depot and knew Build It Pretty was the one to call. After brief discussion of what we were looking for, the creative juices started flowing and they had developed a couple options that incorporated what we wanted. Within a week, and after a few changes in the sketches, we were very happy with the design that Build It Pretty created for us. We recently completed a whole home reconstruction project with Build It Pretty from the result of an insurance claim, and we couldn’t be happier with the work performed! Jay was extremely patient and kind with our many pre-construction meetings in which he listened to our concerns over the numerous portions of the project: redesigning the kitchen, reconstruction of the basement and all three bathrooms. Jay was proven invaluable in getting the project completed with all the challenges that we encountered along the way. We hired Build it Pretty for a complete renovation of a 1970's era bathroom. Jay walked us through the project in an systematic manner, thoroughly defining the scope of the work to be performed. We were especially grateful for the recommendations he made on how to enhance the final product while providing us ongoing suggestions on how to minimize the project costs. This was all done with an adherence to what we wanted the final product to look like. We were dealing with an exterior entryway and adjoining roof problem which, due to an architectural design defect, allowed rain and snow melt runoff to create a waterfall effect over our front entry stoop and water infiltration into the stucco and stone wall surrounding the stoop which soon would have wicked through into the interior walls. Jay, through his engineering training and skill, envisioned and implemented a thoroughly successful redesign which has successfully solved the problem. The new design not only functions perfectly but also aesthetically improves the appearance of the entryway. This was a challenging problem. Jay and his team were enthusiastic, creative, diligent and determined to come up with a solution. They were always respectful of our convenience, They were prompt, showed up when they said they would and always left the work site clean at the end of the day. We had our kitchen, mudroom, bathroom and basement destroyed from water when our refrigerator malfunctioned. Build It Pretty did a fantastic job of helping us deal with the insurance company and bank and then getting our home back, and even better, than it was before the flooding.
